    1. "Boys, be ambitious!" by William Smith Clark

    - "Boys, be ambitious” means that people should have a strong desire for success or achievement and be ambitious in whatever they are doing.

Full quote: "Boys, be ambitious. Be ambitious not for money or for selfish aggrandizement, not for that evanescent thing which men call fame. Be ambitious for that attainment of all that a man ought to be."

    2. “The word impossible is not in my dictionary” by Napoleon Bonaparte

    - “The word impossible is not in my dictionary” means that there is nothing impossible in your life. Trying hard will make everything possible.

  3. 1- "He who knows does not speak. He who speaks does not know." By: Lao-tzu
I really like this quote because it describes many people in our world who do a lot of talking, but if we think of what they said we will still go in the same circle to no goal!! In the other hand, we may find people don’t talk that much, but they reach their goals in few wards.

2- “Treat others the way you want to be treated” By: Kenia Morales
If you want others to treat you nice you should treat them nice in the first-place; however, if you done bad things to others, don’t expect them to treat you differently.

    Regards,

  4. 'All that glitters is not gold' by Shakespeare
'All that glitters is not gold' means that a showy article may not necessarily be valuable.

'Success isn't permanent, and failure isn't fatal' by Mike Ditka.
'Success isn't permanent, and failure isn't fatal' means that for people that success in doing one thing, they must not feel proud and need to work more harder than before in order to maintain it while for those who meet failure, they must not give up easily. This is because success and failure does not last long.

From all the quotes I know, I choose these two. The first one is given by a British novelist G. Eliot. He said “It never will rain roses. When we want to have more roses, we must plant trees”. It tells me that if you want something so badly, you can’t depend on others but yourself. You should go for it right away. A lot of people around us stuck all day doing nothing. They are seems to be waiting for something that may accidentally comes to their hands without working. But what happens is only time flows through their palms and leaves nothing behind. There is no reason something would come by itself. Only hardworking can help people get what they want. So, there is no meaning to dreaming all the time. The world is fair which tells me that no pay, no gain. If you don’t sacrifice, how can you get what you want? If all the people could get what they want without doing something, there should be nobody working outside but all resting all the time; and this will never happen to us.

The other one is given by the French thinker Jean Jacques Rousseau. He said that “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet”. This tells me that when I trying to do something; I may need to be patient and keep doing it without giving up. Patience is something makes a lot of people sick. It is also the reason that a lot of people can’t get what they want. Not many people are that patient, on the contrary, most of them imagining of rush to achieve. But that is also impossible if you trying to get something big. It may be easy for you to earn 100 dollars, but how about 10000 or even far more than that. So, you may need patience which can assure you doing things without stopping. When you get what you want in the end, you can taste the sweetness of your product. That’s what you striving for and you finally get what you want. Just think how happy you could be.

  6. Imagination is more important than knowledge...
    --Albert Einstein

I like this one because I think imagination is something that leads to knowledge. People always had imagination first and then tried to find out the truth about what they thought. Imagination is the first thing that attracts people’s attention, it gives us the motivation to explore the world and the things we don’t know yet.

A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.
    --David Brinkley
David Brinkley was an American newscaster. This quote means that if you want to be successful, you’ll have to be able to accept other people’s opinions and even judgments, and then make good use of them to benefit yourself.

  7. "Art distills sensation and embodies it with enhanced meaning in memorable form - or else it is not art."- Jacques Barzun

"If there were dreams to sell, Merry and sad to tell, And the crier rung his bell, What would you buy?"
    - T. L. Beddoes

  8. 1-"Every man was borned free but everywhere he is in chain." by Jean Jacques Rousseau. This quote means that all humans are borned alone and free but the interaction between his peers make things difficult and complicated.

2- "You're gonna pay what you owe." by Riley Freeman. This quote is addressed to the third world countries. This quote says that all the third world countries need to pay totally what they owe to the developed countries even if they are still poor.

  10. Submitted by Koffi:

1- "Our destiny is not written for us, but by us" Barack Obama
I think that President Obama wanted to say briefly that nothing comes easily; we need to work hard to achieve our goals, dream, freedom or happiness. Indeed, this citation could be an encouragement for those who are disappointed and think that they cannot succeed in their life because they were already disadvantaged by the nature (place of birth, from poor families, from poor countries with no resources...). But it not true. God created us biologically equal, with the same components as complete human beings. Skin color does not make any difference between black , white, reg or jellow people. We are all human with great potential. Obama, with black skin color and originally from one of the developing countries of AFRICA, became President of the most powerful country in the world was not easy for him. he didn't get to the white house by nature or because his destiny say so. No, first, he went to school and got his degrees. That opened him widely doors of success. Reason why he chose for his presidential campagn this slogan: "YES WE CAN". Anyone can do it if he works toward his goals, and his objectives everyday for success.

2- "Treat failure to act as a failure but don't punish unsuccessful, good faith efforts" Bateman.
Any kind of efforts need to be appreciated even if at the end there is no success. Anyway, that person has the merit for trying something. But someone who did not try it at all, need a punishment because he is lazy.

  11. "Speech is silver silence is gold"
This mean that being silent is better than talking alot. If you talk alot you tend to say things that you did not want to say and if you are silent you stay away from problems.

"A friend is one who has the same ememies as you"

This means that friends are thos who understand your feelings towards someone or something. This does not mean that you should be enemies with someone just because your friend hates them. It probably means that you would rather be with your friend than trying to make friends with the the person he/she hates.
